What is Brain Games?

Brain Games is a friendly competition that provides a structured academic atmosphere filled with creative thinking and problem solving exercises. Student teams navigate an array of hands-on activities, questions, and challenges across the curriculum of Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and the Arts. Teams of 4 students compete against other schools’ teams. Winning teams at each level advance to the Southern Illinois Brain Games competition each spring. Each school in the five-county region is permitted to enter up to two teams. If slots are still available, additional teams may be added after the registration deadline by calling the ROE #12 Office in Robinson at 618.544.2719.

Celebration of Excellence Banquet

2024 Illinois State Scholars

Each year, ROE #12 is pleased to honor the senior students of our five-county region who have earned the designation of 'Illinois State Scholar.' Statewide, only about 10% of seniors earn that honor. A combination of SAT scores and high school grade point average are combined and used to create a Weighted Scale Score which, if high enough, earns the student the designation. Since 2001, ROE #12 has been proud to honor these outstanding students with an evening of inspiration and celebration.

Scenes From the 2024 Banquet

The 2024 Celebration of Excellence Banquet was held at the Robinson Community Center on March 12, 2024. Guest speaker for the evening was author, Lawrenceville High School alumnus, and former University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball legend, Jay "The Blonde Bomber" Shidler. More than 200 students, school administrators, and guests were in attendance to celebrate the accomplishments of 60 State Scholars from ten of our eleven public high schools.
